What is it?
- Kokum Butter exhibits excellent emollient properties and high oxidative stability, which can assist emulsion integrity. Because Kokum Butter has a relatively higher melt point, it melts slightly at skin temperature. However, the butter is solid at room temperature, but melts readily on contact with the skin. It is one of the most stable and hardest vegetable butters known.Kokum Butter’s triglyceride composition is uniform, and consists of up to 80% of stearic-oleic-stearic (SOS) triglycerides. This naturally white and incredibly smooth butter has enormously high compositions of beneficial materials to help regenerate tired and worn skin cells and further support elasticity and general flexibility of the skin wall.
- Argan Oil is made from the kernels of the argan tree which grows only in the South Western part of Morocco. It is known as “liquid gold” and has been used by the Berber women of Morocco for hundreds of years for its beneficial use in skin, hair, nail and therapeutic treatment. Argan Butter is a proprietary recipe using Argan oil which is exceptionally rich in natural tocopherol (vitamin E) which aides in anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and UV protection. The oil is rich in phenol (particularly Ferulic Acid) which helps prevent damage caused by UV light. Argan oil is also rich in squalene which is present in human sebum at 25%. This attribute makes argan oil very compatible with the skin’s lipid profile and can penetrate the skin deeper than other oils. Argan oil is 80% unsaturated essential fatty acids. Essential fatty acids protect cellular integrity and affect cell fluidity, helping to prevent loss of moisture from the skin. They play a vital role in the formation of prostaglandin, a natural anti-inflammatory that reduces pain, swelling and inflammation, while stimulating blood circulation.
- Evening Primrose Oil provides a nutrient that’s essential for your health, and you take the oil in capsules rather than apply it to your skin. The important component of this oil for skin – and for other health benefits – is gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). Primrose oil comes from the seeds of a flowering plant that grows wild in North America and many other parts of the world. As its name suggests, the plant has an unusual characteristic -- its creamy to bright yellow flowers only bloom after sunset and on cloudy days. Evening primrose seed oil contains a high level of GLA, which is an omega-6 essential fatty acid.
- Rosehip Seed Oil is made up of 77% fatty acids. High in linoleic and linolenic acids, vitamin C, and vitamin A (retinol); all essential for skin and hair health, Rosa rubiginosa has been found to regenerate tissue and eliminate wrinkles, fine lines, scars, sun damage and stretch marks. The essential fatty acids it contains when absorbed through the skin, convert to prostaglandins which assist in cellular membrane and tissue regeneration. In short, Rosehip Seed Oil helps prevent premature aging, soothes, heals and moisturizes mature skin, and prevents the formation of keloid scar tissue, which is the characteristic thickening of the skin in scar formation.
- Sea Buckthorn Oil is an unsurpassed natural source of vitamins A and E, carotenes and flavonoids. Seabuckthorn berries are second only to Rose hips and Acerola in vitamin C content. They are also rich in several other vitamins, including B1, B2, K and P as well as in more than two dozen micro elements.
- Pumpkin Seed Oil possesses very high levels of the natural antioxidants and polyunsaturated fatty acids. Pumpkin seed oil is especially high in the gamma-tocopherol form of Vitamin E, which is a powerful antioxidant. Aside from the high levels of Vitamin E found in pumpkin, there is also a high level of oil content (as high as 50%). The four fatty acids which comprise 98% of pumpkin seed oil are palmitic, stearic, linoleic, and oleic acids. Palmitic acid works to promote natural oil regeneration. Oil is an important component for the skin to retain its protective barrier. With too little oil, the skin will crack and bleed; opening it to a greater risk of infection and disease. Stearic acid acts primarily as a lubricant. It allows the skin to retain the proper moisture balance vital for good health (and good looks). Linoleic acid is an essential fatty acid, which means our bodies don’t manufacture it, and so we must ingest it in our diets. Linoleic acid is one step for the manufacture of prostaglandins, which decrease inflammation in the body. Linoleic acid helps maintain smooth skin, and will help repair flaky, itchy, or rough skin. Oleic acid is the final fatty acid found in pumpkin seed oil. It works to replenish and maintain skin’s moisture and lubrication. It is an Omega 9 acid and has similar health benefits (both general and to the skin) as the more well-known Omega 3 and Omega 6 essential fatty acids.
